Killing Floor was one of Lee Child`s first books and is well written and I enjoyed it a lot.
The novel introduces the character of Jack Reacher, a former U.S. Army military policeman who is now a drifter. Reacher gets off a bus in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, and is immediately arrested for a murder he did not commit.At the police station, Reacher meets Detective Finlay and Officer Roscoe, who believe he is innocent. Reacher convinces them to call a phone number found on the victim, which leads them to a retired banker named Paul Hubble, who confesses to the murder.Reacher and Hubble are then transferred to a state prison, where Reacher thwarts an attempt on their lives by the Aryan Brotherhood. Reacher realizes the murder is part of a larger conspiracy involving corrupt cops, the mayor, and a counterfeiting ring.Reacher teams up with Finlay and Roscoe to investigate further. They discover the victim was actually Reacher's brother Joe, who was working for the Treasury Department investigating the counterfeiting operation.
