Book Review "Sleepyhead"

This is humourous in places and is very good fiction. There is a 20th Anniversary publication of this aswell.

Here is what the story is about:

The plot of "Sleepyhead" by Mark Billingham revolves around Detective Inspector Tom Thorne's investigation into a series of disturbing crimes orchestrated by a serial killer in London. The novel introduces a unique premise where the killer manipulates his victims' necks to induce a stroke, leaving them in a condition known as "Locked-In Syndrome." In this state, the victims are fully conscious and aware but unable to move or communicate, adding a chilling and suspenseful element to the story.

As DI Tom Thorne delves deeper into the case, he faces psychological challenges and personal demons while trying to unravel the mystery behind the killer's motives and methods. The narrative unfolds as Thorne navigates through the complexities of the investigation, delving into the dark underbelly of crime in London. With its gripping storyline, well-developed characters, and intense twists, "Sleepyhead" keeps readers on the edge of their seats, making it a compelling read for fans of crime fiction and police procedural thrillers.

This is a good read so I reccommend you buy it and you`ll see.

"Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" is a novel by Patrick Süskind that tells the tale of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, an unloved orphan in 18th-century France who is born with an exceptional sense of smell. Grenouille becomes obsessed with capturing the scents of objects and eventually the scent of a young woman, which leads him on a terrifying quest. Despite his careful attention to detail, the police trace the murders to him, and he is caught and sentenced to death. However, on the way to his execution, Grenouille wears a new perfume he has created from his victims, which causes the crowd to fawn in awe and adoration of him. The novel delves into the psychological aspects of obsession and the power of scent, exploring themes of obsession and the charismatic power of evil, as well as the relationship between scent and emotion.

Book Review - "To Kill a Mockingbird" Classic Fiction.

Here is a Classic Fiction Novel.

Harper Lee was an American author best known for her novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," published in 1960. The novel became instantly successful and is one of the most assigned novels in American schools. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and has been translated into over 40 languages, selling more than 40 million copies worldwide. The story takes place in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the Great Depression and is praised for its sensitive treatment of a child’s awakening to racism and prejudice. Here are a few notable quotes from the novel:

  •  Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."
  • - "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."
  • - "Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.

Book Review - "The Quarry".

I find the quarry about life`s deep meanings of personality.

"The Quarry" is the final novel by Iain Banks, published posthumously in late June 2013. It revolves around an autistic youth, Kit, and his father, Guy, who is a misanthrope dying of cancer. The story is set in a decaying English estate where Guy and his friends gather for a last weekend. The novel is described as a "state-of-the-self book, a meaning-of-life book," reflecting Banks's own experiences with terminal cancer, which he incorporated into the novel. The book is known for its fine prose and its portrayal of the impact of cancer on the characters. It is a departure from Banks's earlier works, lacking the raw vigor of "The Wasp Factory" and the gothic elements of "The Crow Road".
